Fireball and Snowballs #adventureswithjeff
My boyfriend and I wake up with the thought of getting out of town often. It’s not that we don’t love home, we just love traveling! Our alarms will buzz and next thing I know we’re packing for an adventure we thought of on a whim. Yesterday was like that. We packed the car up, put Fudge’s sweater on, and headed to the mountains.
It’s a lovely time of year to visit the Blue Ridge Parkway with the changing of the leaves. On our way, we stopped for a few things at the store. Mmm, thanksgiving food, I thought as we browsed. So we got all the preppings for a mini thanksgiving feast…and 3 bottles of wine.
I highly recommend eating thanksgiving foods any day of the year. It makes a normal dinner feel really special!
Of course the sweet potatoes needed butter, which we forgot, and all the stores on the mountain were closed, so we made a trip to the restaurant to grab some. Upon entering we noticed a celebration was taking place. A very happy and quite tipsy couple had just gotten married. We congratulated them and they offered me a shot of fireball. As a lover of free shots, I accepted. FIREBALL!
Note to self: Always accept shots from wedding parties!
Jeffery and I had the perfect evening eating, drinking, and enjoying the beautiful scenery at one of the cozy condos. Just when I thought the evening couldn’t get better, it started to snow! Totally unexpected, out of the blue, first snow of the year. I giddily ran out into the swirl of snowflakes barefoot and drunk.
Happy things have a way of surprising us when we’re on an adventure. I would always encourage others to just GO when you want to and where you want to whenever you can. 24 hours is plenty of time to drive a couple hours away and have a mini vacation, so don’t feel like you have to plan at all. You’ll feel better and be happier.
Until our next adventure…
